Hi all,

My wife and I currently have a 1971 MK1 transit which had a Canterbury Conversion? The wife bought it last year; we got it through its MOT and it went from a dull green to a white and purple (with glittery specks lol). It still has a lot of work left to do but we're at the crossroads as they say. We had lots of fun last summer with it but its MOT runs out in August and we're deciding whether to sell it or keep it.

That's one of the oddest looking thing i've ever seen. Must have plenty of space though.
The front lights and indicator are mk2 alright but after that the similarities end as far as i can see!
Is the drivers seat in the same position as it would be in a regular van? You must be miles away from the windscreen!

what are you looking at? It's obviously a Mk2 CI type camper.

here's another landliner for you known as mole. alv 622k. 1971. originally grey/brown depending on your viewpoint, now green. there is a pic at http://www.stillstoked.co.uk
i've had it since 1998. we lived in it for over a year, toured europe seeking surf, and each year we drop in at hells mouth, north wales, for the summer holiday surf season, where we'll be again in a couple of weeks. my original mk 1 lhd 1600 v4 red transit with autohome camper, known as old red, has been marooned at the surfers hole near rhiw corner on the lleyn peninsula since 2001, which featured in my film a new wave rising, longboarding uk2k and in diary of a surf sk8 explorer, ireland. i blew the engine in this one in 2001, towing a caravan heavily laden with our stock of longboard skates which we sold all around the coastline of southern britain. i took the v4 2 litre engine from a 1968 transit pop up camper which we had and which had been driven as a surf van by tom wright, to replace the blown 1600 cc and continued our journey which ended in late summer as we gunned the hill down to bude. on cruising into the car park at summerleaze i touched the brakes and lost the half shaft which was a bit scary, when we thought how that could have happened on the hill as we hit 59mph. after getting it fixed once again in the forest of dean at my base i took old red back to north wales where it collapsed yet again and so decided to get the spare on the road, which is when we fitted out mole for full time surfsk8 living on the road chasing sun, waves and tarmac.
