Noisy Windscreen

Postby frank_sumner » Sat Feb 11, 2006 8:16 pm

Hi All,

I've just had a new windscreen fitted, courtesy of a crack and my Insurance Company, but since having it fitted the wind noise above 30 mph is terrible, and it wasn't there before. There are no draughts so the screen seems to have been sealed properly. I've removed the front trim and can't see anything obviously wrong. The noise seems to eminate from the left hand side of the screen. Any clues before I go back to the installers?

The good bit is that the heated screen is now working!!! :) :) :)

I used to have a wedge at work that you had to pull the fuse out of the wipers to stop em mid sweep to stop the screen lifting out when you hit the brakes
Company mechanic had used nomorenails to glue it in

Sorted this morning. RAC were the fitters, when they checked, the bond hadn't set along a 12" area at the top of the screen. Redone with no hassle whatsoever.

Yep, they took it out, cleaned everything up and then refitted. Oh and Fred, I didn't have to complain, just rang them and said it was noisy and that I had water coming through in yesterdays rain. I was invited to take it straight to their workshop. Top marks!!

bloody rac auto screens  we have had 16 screens in our blue hi cube since september last year  every one they fit leaks or falls out when you slam the brakes on (not right out but enough to get a big gale of wind thru  ) i would not reccomend them at all they have now sent us a court summons to pay for the excess but with a screen as dodgy as that they dont stand a chance of getting the money every time they send someone out to fit a screen he just smashes the old one and puts a new one in  what a waste especially as they are top tinted screens :P if we had of known at the time it would be this much hassle we would have paid the extra £25 and got gvm to do it
