Well I suppose if a job is worth doing and all that. If you moved off of eBay and used the rest of the net you would probably find a site that will make you the correct leads up to the right length and with the right ends!

You can get the copper cable and lugs from welding suppliers, and you make up the leads to your own size

Int you will need a positive battery terminal anyway, or are you going to cable tie it to the battery

As for the ends falling off, you wert doing it right

Dont buy cheap and nasty leads, they wont last

Take a wire from the positive off the side lights to the roof and wire it up off that it will work.

Inside the van tho and hide the wire under the trims etc

If I were you id spend the time sorting the rust then get an MOT.

Once its got an MOT then you can do extra lights, battery mudgaurds etc.
