newby needs help ..smiley face electrical poblem

My 2.5d van starts up first time everytime but the wipers heater and head lights do not work imediatly but start working after about a minute. This is an intermitant problem at the moment but seems to be happening more regularly. Also sometimes I do not have any dash warning lights but the engine still fires up. The van is an x BT with 46000 on the clock.

Any help would be appriciated

Had the same problem on my sierra, was the main ingition relay playing up, changed it, no problem since

Can't remember which one it is on a transit tho!

Check the main fuse box next to the battery, it has the main power fuses in it, you may well have a bad connection in there due to the ingress of water.

I wouldn't noramlly say this but as so many things seem not to work I would start there.

I had electrical problems with my tranny (M reg) It turned out to be the connecting block on the steering column, contacts were corroded and getting very hot! I chopped out the connector block and re connected all the wires using bullet connectors, no problems since

thanks all . Fitted a new ignition relay and the problem has been resolved.
