im used to playing with old opels , and when a red top goes in 1 we remount the dizzy on a bracket and run a toothed belt from a wheel mounted onto the cam drive wheel
so thats easy to sort
just been evil baying and see a pinto and 9 box going cheap , might be an option

Electronic ignition would be the way to go!

the mantas drive is a factory fix that works very well the fix i was talking about mimics it but goes to the front of the engine
there are folks in the states getting 1400 bhp out of them running on alcohol and used in drag racing ,it uses coil packs and an ecu to control it all but was running on a dizzy and giving 500 bhp 2 year ago i will see if i can hunt out a pic of it ,i know i have one somewhere

bazw wrote:the best guess i have now is i have low compression on 2 cylinders and it will not fire off on them
will have to see if i can beg steel or borrow a compression tester before i pull the head and check the valves for burnt or pitted seats
i dont think its the rings as there is no great pressure from the oil filler to make me think its blow bye on the rings

fred i have always thought you were joking so hope were still cool ,and i have noticed some lake of replys to questions to but put that down to the folks who dont like hybrids

btw the conversion is a case of redrilling the front mounts 1" forward to take the ford bushes and a bracket to change the box carrier from 1 hole to 2 for the mt75 box put a dent in the tool box to clear the exhaust then swop the flange on the prop you would think they were made for each other
so if the di ever becomes rare the merc ones will go in a tranny easy
including the 5 cylinder turbos

luke just in case what rover engine are you using and what box ?

No prob, Baz, I am sure we are both cool!!! Seriously, I do think there is a point here for a non-transit forum. What do you think Luke?

i know this will sound silly but can you get the cam or pump timing 1 turn out to eachother and end up having it timed out by 180 deg ?
