Mk1 Beavertails

Has anyone got or know where I can get pictures or drawings for the original layout/look of the Mk1 Beavertail. If such a thing exists.....

Probably hundreds of different types of beavertail, all depends on who it was made by? Because it wasn't Ford.

So ford didn't supply a factory Beavertail....

That would explain a few things

Ok so is there somewhere I can find a few pics to get an idea of the styles of Beavertails and there finishes as I can't remember what they look like

All commercial bodies like beavertails and Lutons were built on contract by body builders, the chassis were delivered to them and they were built to order. I will try to get some more pics of mine for you.

Well looks like I can either stick with the current body and just refurb it

or

get a few lengths of sheet folded in the same shape as the existing body and fit a new one

Need to think it over.

Lights, the current ones look like ones from a commercial trailer. I'm not sure if they look right. Would Ford of supplied the chassis with lights, or does this depend on what the body builder asked for.

The rear lights should be ford, but they could have been changed over the years. You could have a look around for a slightly later body, it should fit 80%, and you can modify the rest of the body mounts.

I thought about that at first due to the handyness factor but have now decided to keep as original looking as possible.

I suppose the original Ford tail lights are worse than gold dust

I noticed that but I could just screw them to the back and make it look nice

Could they be fitted to generic backs? I might have some backs somewhere.....

Not sure as I've never seen them.

If I get my hands on them I'll know better and it's never to hard to use a little enginuity

If it's possible to fit them to newer backs, might be an idea as old 2nd hamd ones might be a bit dodgy.

As you say, original backs probably not best idea.

There's plenty of different designs of rear lights out there, just need to find the one that fits
