Postby davek » Sat Feb 18, 2006 6:40 pm

Hi i'm fitting pas to my mk2 transit at the moment-got all bits i need off a mk3 (hopefully) spent today getting the old steering box off etc Was wondering if anyone knows to any pictures under bonnet or inside cab of a mk1/2 thats been converted esp. the mounting plate for the box - done a search not found the areas i'm looking for-- (if any one needs a non-power front end set-up with disk brakes let me know )Thanks Dave

the mounting plate from the wedge actually bolts down to your mk2 chassie in the same place 8) the bolt holes are the same, then its easy to see the cutting you need to do on the inner wing, couldnt be easier, front axle is the same, all this is ok as long as your not talking steering rack mk3 :?:

a lot of mk1 have no servo Fred, then you still have to push the pedal with the force of 10 men to stop disc brakes or not :D oh and Hi Fred long time no chat

Yo Geoff! He said Mk2, and to my knowledge even the early ones have a servo as they all have disc front brakes.

Oh right, sorry I just looked at the original post of the thread! I thought you meant change the servo to do with the power sterring, not the disc brake conversion on a Mk1.

Hello all.Yes there's a servo on the brakes.Maybe when the pads bed in it will be a bit better.I think I might have been hoping for a bit much as the drum brakes were actually pretty good at lower speeds. One thing I've been meaning to do is pull the filter out of the servo to make sure its clea,if it is and the brakes don't improve it might be a question of using a smaller bore master cylinder. The brakes aren't really bad it's just that the pedal pressure seems so high. You learn to brake a bit gentler in a camper in case a full kettle (or worse still a full khazi) end up trying to join you in the front.
