insurance nightmare i really need help, please read.

Hi ya

i've just had my van painted with grafitti artwork and my company name and logo and my insurers - adrianflux wont continue my cover.

does anyone know of specialist flexible insurers.

my problems are:- the paint and logo, i need business use, im 24, license for 1 yr, accident last year (different vehicle), its a camper - mk1 transit 130 landliner. 10,000 miles annually

have i made this beautiful thing uninsurable?

price isn't an issue i guess as i have been paying £1500 3rd party, i'd say yes to anyone willing to insure the old girl.

any help would be greatly appreciated cos i've got a week to sort it out.

If I were you I would consider trader's insurance, but I am not 100% about your age. That having said, I was named on our fleet policy at 23, for 2 years till I was 25 then was lumped in with the 'any driver' cover. That is er, one or two years ago though so maybe things have changed since. As it's a classic try Footman James.

fred traders insurance is for people who trade in vehicles - if you have a serious accident you could be asked to prove sales of vehicles - if you dont have any then you could be in trouble

Hmmm, fair point, how about some kind of trade insurance then? Might be a bit pricey though, due to his age. BTW we don't actually deal in vehicles, the motor trade is not just buying and selling. Officially we are vehicle deliverers, which is an accepted branch of the motor trade. As are valeters, body shops, mechanics and even people who fit accessories an security.

a friend did it for £175 so im not worried about insuring the art work, but it seems to cause a problem with insurers (non standard paintwork they called it), it all seems a little ludicrous that its so hard to insure me and my van, computer says no syndrome i reckon.

i spend so much of my time in it that it wont get robbed and i love it too much to be an uncareful driver. plus its slower than granny with a zimmer.

argh whats the problem

so traders insurance, how can i get round that im just not a trader, i have my own business, but it sells skateboards???

non standard paintwork they called it

show me a 70's transit with standard paintwork

cant see why the paint work will affect it unless you wanted it covering - ive driven cars round with different coulored panels on and never told the insurance i think the problem is now you have told them they probly have it on computer and like you say computer says no
have you explained to them you dont want it covering

tell em note, say its a bog standard camper with a 1.7 engine in it and you do 2000 miles max per year and its kept in a garage (when @ home), i ran 850cc minis for years, i didnt tell them they had 1380 engines and 13" wheels.

Well whilst I don't entirely agree with this, I don't see how a paint job should affect your getting insurance. Trouble is now you have applied will it now be on record?
