rear door handle

Hi guys I have a problem with my van, the rear door handle doesn't open the door but it's as if it's broken off inside the door.
How do I access the handle to check if it is broken or just come off whatever it was attached to.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm guessing it's similar to a tranny. unscrew the inner door cover, you will see a bar 1/4-1/8 ish dia coming down from the handle. check in the door well and you will find a piece of plastic which has come off the bar, it clips round the bar to pull the door release up when you pull the handle. put it back on the bar, clip it together and if necessary glue it together or tie wrap it in place. worked for me.
