I would say yes, anybody know otherwise?

agreed, there is nothing i know of to stop you swapping the whole axle over, input flange and mountings should be the same, watch your ratios though

I own a Mark 1 and I believe the difference with the Mark 2 is that the Mark 1 has the spring "saddles" (the metal where the springs bolt to the axle) on the top part of the axle to accommodate its much shorter springs and the lack of a rear shuckle.

The Mark 1 rear springs just slide on bare metal, dump truck style.

Are the Mark 1's different in the U.K.?

sounds like it, my mk2 has those saddles you are talking about on the top too, effectively for those trying to picture this :P .... the spring presses down on top of the axle, rather than the spring being routed underneath the axle

I thought the only reason for that type of spring mount was because of the lack of a rear shackle in the Mark 1 spring.

When were the slipper springs discontinued in the U.K.?

Does your Mark 2 have a shackle at the rear of the spring, the same as the rear of the front springs?

If it does and the springs are mounted on the top of the axles I would definitely want to see it since the only purpose I can think of for that would be to gain extra ground clearance and I'm yet to find a Transit designed for anything other than paved roads.

Yes ..... in essence, it has a pin at the front which allows it to pivot up and down at the front, and a shackle at the back which allows a small amount of front to rear travel, this i believe is standard on mk2's over here, as for pictures of mine, not possible at the moment as i don't have a digital camera, but i might be able to rustle something up from the workshop manual i uploaded and posted the link to on this board

The only way I can visualize a Transit with the springs mounted on top of the axle and with rear shackles is for the springs to be almost flat... unless the rear shackle is mounted much higher but that would be imposible in the Mark 2s I have seen up to now.

I have seen your post and I haven't acknowledged it yet because I'm still dealing with some greyware problems trying to see those pictures.

Today I'll get one of my kids to open it for me.
