What's the worst thing about driving a van...

Postby daddy cool » Fri Mar 10, 2006 9:17 pm

I love my van but some things nark me.
Like when we go to a race meeting loaded up and with a full 210 litre water barrel and we're hacking up the motorway and see a hill coming up and someone pulls across in front of me. As I've only got the 85ps I need all the momentum I can get :( . I'm then re-taken by all the people I've just spent the last 15 mins getting past and they're looking at me wondering why I'm now going at 60  Get to the top of the hill and start passing them all again
The other thing is people who are waiting at junctions and see you coming and because you are a van they assume you must be going slow and so pull out in front of you (slowly)
Been trying to educate these people using sign language and abusive language, but they still do it
Even if you don't need it, grab it.
The minute you do need it, it'll be gone.

When you are in a luton and you come up behind somebody in a little car going EVEN SLOWER than you are, you can't get round them and everybody behind you can't see them so they think it's you going that slow volutarily!

Sorry Fred couldn't resist it.

Also hate drivers who are desperate to overtake you because your a van and nearly kill everyone on the road trying and shoot off into the distance only for you to catch them up 5 mins later in the traffic jam that you knew is there everyday. :?

Having the Coppers pull me up every 5 mins cos they see the 'mobile mechanic' sign and think 'lets see what we can find wrong with that'!!

Invariably they find nothing wrong, but its taken hours and hours of my life that wouold have been better spent actually getting where I was going

this is going to take a while

1. people who pull out in front of you cos your a van and they think you will be slow

2. the people you overtake on a and b roads (single carriageway) that realise when your alongside them, they then nail it to stop you coming past them 99% of all rover drivers are guilty of this!

3. people who wont flash you to let you out of a junction cos your a van and they think you will hold them up

4. people who sit right on your arse when im shifting down the mway at 90 overtaking then blast the horn when i do a emergancy stop ( just testing the brakes)

5. people who do 20 in a 30 and 30 in a 40 and so on

6. people who think they can push there way past me when a dual c/way goes into 1 lane

7.people who live in cul - de -sacs and park opposite each other to slow vans and lorry's down

8.people who slow down in front of me just before a big hill then it takes me light years to get to the top of it

9. people in town who cant drive so when they see a parking spot near me use me as the marker when they smashed into my bumper they know its time to stop (they think cos i have got a manky van it dont matter) same with carparks when they open there doors onto your van

10. the prats who mark out car parking spaces there just a tad to narrow for my van i can understand this at tesco's but at b+q or wickes :?

well thats it for tonite im sure i will think uploads more

yep i have heard that as my aunty lives out there and has had numerous accidents

when i went to denmark it was excellent driving over there as you go along a road and about 1/2 amile up the road theres a car at a junction and they just sit there and wait for you

1. Costs a fortune to go places when there's only me in a nine seater vehicle.

2. People taking the piss with asking me to move a wardrobe for them for the third time in as many months!

3. People who think that because it's a van that makes it OK to get into it covered in mud or worse.
