generally they do and like mike said depending on how good the conversion is :D - the only ones that devalue the van are mk1 and mk2's -it's the cutting in windows that does it :(

A good quality (Certifiable) job should definately add value. Fit and finish a paramount to getting the cost of converting back when selling on. You also need to consider layout, and design everything for optimum use of space and ergonomics.
An example is the bed shown in your picture:- you couldn't fit a bed widthways in a transit far too narrow a space. it would be fine for kids or perhaps you would put up with it but a paying customer wouldn't (they come in all shapes and sizes).

The van you use will also need to be really tidy, and if your fitting out with gas that needs a safety certificate
Google the self build motor caravaners forum very helpfull, although you can't post without paying up (swindlers). Also Halfords are selling an Haynes manual about the very subject which I myself have brought and it's very interesting, and full of advise tips and contacts etc.

That's a very good standard, makes mine look very basic.

As for windows you would prolly be better off starting with a large mini bus that has windows already in it.
