i got a rebuild kit from http://www.abbeytransmission.co.uk/

i gather they also do an exchange axle, just tubes and diff.

as i recall the axle re-build kit, all bearings, seals, spacer and pinion and crown wheel was £325. with p and p and vat

axle was about £500.. wish i'd gone with axle, would have been easier and cheaper in long run.

i think they do a fitting service as well..

either way, very helpfull and know the game inside out..

its a twin wheel one, 1993.. the diff cover comes off, so you unbolt the diff and pull it out from the rear.. i put all the bits in, adjusted as best i could then took it upto kevin at the gearbox centre, in caister near great yarmouth, he set it all up properly..

i had to replace mine as it had been noisy for years, then it decided to break a few teeth off...

it runs nice and quiet now.. still i wish i'd bought the tube axle as you just swap it over, fit your brakes and half shafts job done.. much easier than fitting a diff.. job for the experts really, getting the crushable washer and backlash etc right is a nightmare..

if only!!! i think it was because all the bearings were shagged out..

the normal transit drone just got worse and worse.. i was in the process of thinking i wish it would either get worse or go away.. about ten mins later bang it went..

still drove it back to workshop about 6 miles.. the noise was amazing!! if you want to get looked at, drive around with a broken diff..
