KMPH - MPH?

Postby Zambezi » Sun Nov 23, 2008 11:56 pm

Hi there,
Firstly this is a great forum, it has helped me find some of the gremlins in my little Connect.

I thought I was getting really good fuel consumption, 13 miles to a litre (about 62 miles per gallon)!!! Then I got a satnav and I realised that if it said something was about 30 miles away my odometer/trip meter said I had done about 50 miles. So I think somewhere along the line my odometer/trip meter has switched over to kilometres instead of miles.

Is this possible and is it fixable?

Cheers,

Surely one of you experts must know how to change the trip meter from kilometres per hour to miles per hour? If it is not possible to change it then it probably means the dash has been changed at some point for a European one?

Is/was the van an import.

Had this on T/sit van, irish import i believe as they`re on kmh apparently after a certain date :?:

Anyway dealer had swapped cluster so it showed in mph,but clocked up the distance in kmh so was overreading, speed pulse comes via p.c.m so it was all wrong & i don`t think you can alter it in pcm.

Thanx for the replies.

I bought the van off a van dealer via eBay, so I have no idea about the vans history. The speedo seems to read fairly accurately, although it is marked in kmph and mph, so no surprises there. It just seems to be the trip meter that is over reading, roughly 1.66 X more than I would expect, which is about the difference between km and miles.
How do I check if it is an import?

It also means that instead of getting 66mpg I am getting 37mpg, is that about right for a 75ps?

Thanx again,
