v6 cossie conversion

Postby craphippy » Fri Dec 05, 2008 6:13 pm

hi, was a vw t25 fan, then i discovered 4x4 transits
mine is a pinto and severly underpowered so i'm stickin to petrol and goin for a 24valve cossie lump.
just wondered if anyone has a comprehensive list of all parts required for the conversion???

my top end sucks big time and was thinkin of bigger tyres rather than going down the line of fannying around with the axles.

have a donor car with auto box, is it wise to keep auto or convert to mt75 manual???

when i've got the time i dont have the money
when i've got the money i dont have the time

a 1988 mk3 - you'll need the transit radiator in then the DOHC one has the right outlets - if it was an earlier mk2 you could fit the bigger granada radiator :D

doubt you'll get any cheap :( they are a rare part not really off the shelf, you can adapt granada ones but it wont put the engine in the right position - it'll be off to the left but plenty have done it that way and had no probs :D

ive fabricated some in the past :D

how did you go about it?

i was thinking of getting the engine into position via engine crane and a few braces here and there to steady it then cutting the mount where it bolts onto the engine, thus giving me the correct plate on the engine then attaching the leftover to the body mount and then use some heavy gauge mild steel to fabricate the space in between???

any other easy ways though?
