More about power Windows

Postby Sundowner » Fri Apr 14, 2006 12:11 am

In my original post about instaling P/W I said that it was for mk1/2 hinged doors, After thinking about it i figured that it can be done to sliding doors aswell

As far as the install goes it would be the same as the hinged doors but the wiring harness would need to be modified and some door shooters would be needed

These door shooters are contacts that fit on the door and the pillar and make cotact when the door is closed, these can also be used for the instalation of speakers and central locking

you can adapt rover 200/400 series b reg to f reg as they have a window regulator that clips onto the bottom of the glass and the motor is remote with its own track..a lot of classic car people use them as they are reasonably reliable and cheap...there are other types that u can use as well...early volvo 340 are the same type..

They are the year of registration, up to 2001 each 'year' (from aug of one year to july of the next, which is why I said 1985 ish), starting back in 1962, which in those days was jan-dec, this changed in 1967 when there was E reg jan-jul then F reg aug-jul 1968. The letters O, I and Z weren't used as they looked like numbers, and Q was skipped too, to be used as a 'yearless reg'. The first 'alphabet' of regs were at the right end of the number plate, when we got to Y it chnged to the left end of the plate, until Y was reached again and we started with 51 and 01 in the middle for the year 2001. We now have two registrations a year, in march and september.

Sorry should have said started in 63, I always get the start year wrong! I keep thinking it's the year I was born, not the year after.
