Hi mickdee, I got the insulation from Wickes, but I've seen it in b&q. A whole roll when I bought it was only a tenner, but you only need about a third of a roll (not allowing for initial cock ups  ) Is that your current van on your avatar :?: Got any more pics posted :?: 'cause when I'm done with the interior, I'm gonna start sorting out the body. :? Looking to steal some styling ideas from cool looking vans like yours  8) I think you might be able to get a complete set of blinds for a swb bus out of one roll :D lets know how you get on

noobrider wrote:brilliant idea, I was actually thinking along the same lines when someone posted a question about curtains somewhere else. I was thinking about that insulation material as its cheap compared to the proper silver shields.

Here, noobrider, your Mrs seems pretty nifty on the sewing machine  I saw a post months ago on the SBMCC site, (which is where I got the idea from), where they sewed a layer of cloth on the back, and trimmed with edging tape. I aint got access to a sewing machine but if I did I'd be having a go at that to match the cool interior you've got :!:

we stripped and unpicked the original seats then made patterns from the bits, that way they fit perfectly, fairy easy job and we bought the sewing machine just to do the van. It was a cheap secondhand tiny thing that looks more like a toy than the real thing cost £20.

All the stitching is simple seam to seam and it takes longer to take the old upholstery off than it does to make and fit the new.

took a couple of time to read your post about the sewing then realised your on about the screens being trimmed up the same as the cab....maybe but the there may be too much cream leather. We have picked out some beige background with blue vine type pattern that is also reverseable ie Blue background beige vines to do curtains and bed upholstery. will be a nice contrast and would match the curtains if I did that with the screens.

Mind you I dont think the tiny sewing machine will cope with running the silver foil through it

Hi noobrider, I'm lookin fwd to seeing how the back of your van develops, sounds like it will be just as cool as the cab 8) :D

The welder didn't turn up (again  ) which means I can't get on with the bed till the wheel arch is repaired
So I cracked on with getting the toilet cubicle fitted out
Image
The light fitting and mushroom vent were already installed
Image
Next job was to build a pedestal to lift our portaloo up 3" which makes it far more comfy to use.
Image
Not wanting to waste the space, I fitted a piano hinge to create a handy wee tool store
Image
The whole cubicle was then tiled with self-adhesive vinyl tiles, helped with some contact glue for the walls
Image
Then installed a tidy wee corner mount cabinet with mirror door
Image
Image
Towel rail up
Image
The toilet cubicle is also a handy place to hang soggy coats etc. so up went some handy hooks
Image
Just needs a lick of paint on the door now. Oh and gonna fit a net curtain cause the Scottish midges can bite anywhere!!

I love this site !!!!

I have just finished my front and door silver window screens !
I had looked at the rolls of silver stuff in wickes and thought it would be good as a screen but couldn't think how to fix it but thanks to you I now do !! :D
