Mk2 vented disc problem

Postby chrisvmax » Thu Mar 26, 2009 12:35 pm

Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of changing the front brake pads on my Mk2 ambulance. It's based on a transit 160, and it's a twin wheeler.
The problem I have is that I have bought the pads, they fit perfectly but the anti-squeal/rattle whatever-it-is things that sit between the pads and the fixing pins are the wrong size. The guy in the shop seems at a loss.
My van has vented front discs which I assume are thicker than standard discs the anti-squeal things are too narrow and the space that fits over the edge of the disc is too narrow.

The one I need looks a bit like this.....

Does anyone know if they can be purchased separately? Or anyone got any spare ones knocking about?

Any help gratefully received.

Regards,
Chris

Why don't you use the old ones?
or check for a mk3 twin wheel brakes if they are the same

I am using the old ones for now, but they aren't looking at their best... a bit rusty you know. They certainly won't last long!
If I get a chance after work today I'll get to the Ford dealer and ask there.

Cheers,
Chris

Still no luck

Hi
I tried Ford... they have nothing listed for the MK3
The earliest stuff on their computer is from 1990

So.... who is BIGRED and how do I get hold of him.... or is he like the "A" Team and he just turns up and everything OK again.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi,
I've had a look for Biggred in the members list and have found Biggredvan, beastie and bus but no biggred

So I googled him and found this

http://www.biggred.co.uk/

Is this him?

Cheers,
Chris

Hi,
I've tried Biggred. He doesn't stock them, but reckons they may be the same as one of the Landrover setups.
So. transitgeoff, yes I still need some of these, with pins would be great if you still have them.

How much with postage?

Cheers,
Chris
