Mark sent me this - might aswell put it on here!!! :D

"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN GREAT BRITAIN DID NOT PURCHASE A
DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES
WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER
4.6 BILLION POUNDS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND
"DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL
THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO
AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING
TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE
ARAB NATIONS PROMISED A FORTNIGHT AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF PETROL GOING UP BUT AT THE
SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE
FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS
SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES
ETC.

WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE
WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD.

FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF GREAT
BRITAIN SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

This is a very good idea, and in theory I support it. There is only one snag, British Apathy. No bugg*er is going to bother to follow it, or should I say very few.

the best idea is to sill get petrol as some people need petrol everyday but is to only get it from one person like shell or bp
lets just say that all the people you know only gets there petrol from bp for one week all the rest would start a price war to get you back shopping there!!

try it :D :D :D

Excellent idea. Only I agree that the problem is apathy. If I remember rightly someone suggested this about 2 years ago and nothing happened. I'm all for it though.

I run mine on biodiesel. 95% cleaned waste cooking oil, 5 % methanol. 69p per litre on the A64 near York.

If you've got a petrol one, consider LPG. I run a 3.9Efi Range Rover on it and get the equivalent of about 40 to the gallon. Morrisons are selling lpg at 29p per litre at some ountlets in Yorkshire.

I have looked into it, but not tried it yet. Largely due to the fact that to make proper biodiesel it's too fiddly fo my liking, and I can't be arsed!

One of the original sites is veggivan, also more info here, also here. also Honest John, click on the Backroom and do a search.

Some older diesels will run on SVO - Straight Veg Oil, that's new pure oil, but thier has to be a tank pre-heater, to thin the oil first. The older engines cope with this better, except the Lucas CAV pumps.
