Not quite a Transit, but near enough!

Hi there

New to this forum, but thought I'd give it a shot. Me and my mate own this 1983 Ford A Series Fire Engine, ex Royal Ordnance Factory Summerfield, nr Kidderminster. It's undergoing a bit of TLC and we're hoping to get it on the road shortly. So far it's had some underbody welding, new exhaust manifold gaskets and lots of polishing! The one thing that's currently preventing it from passing it's MOT are the indicators. We're in need of a new indicator switch, have tried various local motor factors, Ebay and even Ford themselves; all to no avail. Can anyone help please?

OOO, I would be tempted to turn that into a luvverly revcovery truck. The chassis might need extending though.....

I will have a look at our mechanic's A series, I can't remember if they have Mk1 or Mk2 stalks. If they are Mk2, they come up on ebay now and again.

I had an old A-series Rec truck a few years ago. If I left the indidator on for more than about 10 seconds, smoke would pour out of the column shroud!!!!
Needed manifold gaskets too (sounded like a tank) but the studs were so rusty there wasn't much left to get a spanner on so i didn't fancy the job much!

well you are very welcome on the forum! i think you will find that the indicator switch is the same as a mk2 transit!
