Looking for High Top Mk 5

Postby Edinburger » Wed Jun 24, 2009 8:22 pm

Hi there

I'm looking for a Mk 5 transit to convert to a camper. I'm finding it hard to track down models with a full rather than semi high top. Were the 80's 120's and 190's all built with high top variants. Ive found 190's on ebay with high tops but not 80's or 120's. To be honest I'm not even sure what the distinguishes the model numbers.
I'm also interested in the possibility of running the van on SVO. Anyone out there with experience of that?

Cheers

SWB high tops are pretty rare but do exist
Lucas Laser 2000/IDS
95 Pre Production DRW TD Highcube
95 Hallmark
96 150 100PS LWB Hi-Top
96 Autosleeper Duetto
06 Mk7 (scrap)
09 140PS T330S 2.2

Gaffa tape is like the force, it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together

i have a swb transit 80 mk5 hi-top- only got it 2 months ago with the intention of conerting into a camper. due to the rareness i had to go down to birmingham to get it tho n i live in perthshire.

not really looking to sell it to be honest. all i would say is keep checking ebay and eventually one will come up. i looked down the route of getting a hi-top put on a medium roof or low roof but was too expensive.

they are out there but rare and you'll probs need to travel to get it! good luck.

oh yeah n i think 80 120 etc distinguishes how much of load it can carry - 80 is 800kg, 120 is 1200kg - i think but not 100%!
