What a PIG!!!

Postby rover » Fri May 05, 2006 12:19 pm

I am in the middle of replacing a water pump on a 1998 'Banana', and I'm having a right pig of a job with it!

The viscous fan wont come off, I have had them very tight before but never had one I just couldnt move at all, the power steering pump just needs two bolts taking out to make room to remove the cover and one of them snapped in the block! the alternator vac-pump is leaking oil everywhere, and to top it all off the bloke is soo tight he wont even have the cam-belt done!

Just thought I'd share my horrible day with you all

Oh that makes me feel a whole lot better Wolfie  I would chuck some 'Goslings' down me kneck but I fear the rest of the day would be a blurrrrr

Well I got round it in the end, had to 'modify' the cam cover in the end

Drilled out the P/S bolt and ran a tap up the whole.

Now completely covered in oil and trying desperately not to get any on the keyboard :?

Exactly...

It depends on what you consider 'old' to be, basically I meant pre 'smiley' when I said old.

ALL original WEDGE shape Transits have vac pump driven by alternator and right hand threaded viscousfan with no exceptions, you didnt get a wedge Transit that was fitted with a vac pump mounted on the engine like a mk2 :D
