wireing help

Hi I am new to this site. I live in tasmania australia, I have just bought a 77 model camper .There is a wire onto the dash that is black with a yellow strip it becomes live when the lights are turned on but I cant find where it goes can any body help please.

is it not the dash illumination circuit it might have gone to an auxilery gauge to the blub on it

does the main dash light up when the lights go on

The wire has a very small push on clip on it And it comes out of the main loom where it plugs into the dash

Is it not an optional extra for a rev counter?


Does it become live when the engine is running or only with lights on?

The engine wasnt running when I tryed it. I just had the light switch on Do transits come out with a optional tacho

AFAIAA you can have Tachographs factory fitted on Jumbos and the like with a GW of over 3.5t.

On older Transits the rev counter was an optional extra.

How come older Transits had posher accessories then? Nothing like that on my MK5

i had a mk2 minbus with that on - very usefull if you decide to service your van in the dark

my camper Has a socket under the bonnet and at the rear of the camper for a light to plug in. That would be very usefull if you was keen to do a service in the dark.
