Postby pompey » Wed Jul 29, 2009 10:01 pm

Im have just taken out the wireing loom of my caravan (3 days!!!!!) and have just started to put in my Transit.....The Zig unit controls all the 12 volt 240 volt etc including a battery charger when connected to site mains.......my question is can I wire the 12S bits where they should be wired to in the engine bay.....sorry if this sounds vague or stupid but Im useless an know nothing about electric 12 volt or otherwise..........but am quickly learning :?

Are you having a leisure battery in the back? I would wire it off that

i agree with minormatt on that one, otherwise you could end up with a non starter.

Thanks guys, the idea was to use the 12s stuff for what it was intended but to hard wire insteat of plug in back of van.....the 12s runs electrics i.e fridge whilst driving and the zig unit regulates etc.

in that case then would it be advisable to have a split relay to the leisure battery and run it all from there instead of haveing the option to run from both the leisure and vehicle batteries?

many thanks

I would always wire a split relay in. that way if your domestic battery goes flat, you can still start the van.
