What is my radiator capacity V4 Essex

I had to replace the water hose that goes from the pump to the thermostat housing, so whilst doing that, I drained the system from a tap at the bottom of my rad.

Flushed a fair few litres of clean water through her and started to refill her.

I looked in my Haynes Manual and it lists a V4 engine rad as having an 8.1 litre capacity.

Mine was full up after 6.5 litres - does this mean:

A blockage is causing the system to be full after 6.0 litres
Is it a non standard rad
Was water left in the system after draining from rad

Had a problem with my camera cable, so can't upload any yet will go to Maplins tomorrow
