Paint Spraying

Postby maddogf3 » Sun May 14, 2006 7:12 pm

Sorry Luke not sure where I should post this #Anyone know about spraying two pack paint? There's a general question .Now to specific's
I want to spray two pack at outside temprature in a big workshop ,lets say about 18 deg - 20 deg . Can spray cellulose fine but want the better stuff now instead. I have a mask and suit but I dont want to appear a dummy going into my local Paint suppliers so would like to know about thinning and any cleaning procedures that might be different and any pit falls that a might encounter
I should know better at my age !!!!!

im no expert but in my experience using 2 pack is much the same as celulose (with the exception of needing a hardener as well) but gives better results, but all paints for cars are now water based so you might have to find a supplier with some old stock
i havent tried the new stuff yet but ive heard that even some of the pros have had to be taught how to use it.

all paints are not now water based, not yet anyway, the cut off date is dec 2006 for suppliers, but it will be available on the shelf till dec 2007 then it will be illegal to sell it, mixing ratio for two pack is 3 paint, 1 hardener & 1 thinners, any further coats within 10-20 minutes, after that it should be left 24hrs to harden off before recoating, heres my last transit ex bt, i sprayed this with two pack

The ratios will depend on which paint you buy and the weather. You do need a special thinners but just ask for two pack thinners.
