Tyre Recommendations

I've fitted 2 gislaved "c400 van", last one was £68 inc vat fitted. Think n/s front and o/s rear are gislaveds then the other 2 were fitted by previous owner, michelin/pirrellis I think.
Can't really fault any of the tyres. I do sometimes get the odd bit of wheel spin when accelerating up hill in the wet, but I suppose thats to be expected with a FWD

Ive not really had any experiance with tyres but everybody raves about Michelin, but let me tell you about my little story. I bought a new lwb Renault Trafic Minibus 4 years ago and it had Goodyear Cargo fitted, ok i wasnt a speed merchant 60mph on motorway but after 4 years i had done 97000 miles, in July i decided to get out of the game and took it for mot before selling, conviced i would have to fit 4 tyres for mot, but to my surprise when they checked they still had 2.5 mm of tread, within legal limits for a comercial so they told me. Anyway i bought a new Mk 7 van in July and to my surprise it had the same tyres fitted so i was quite happy with the choice, will have to see now what milage these will do.
O and i had a phone call from the new owner 4 weeks ago saying he's up to 110,000 miles but thinks shortly he will have to renew them

I recently fitted a set of Marangoni M100 tyres to my MPV and they perform marvelously; plenty of grip in both wet and dry and they do not appear to be wearing much. Its the first time that I have ever used them and I was a bit skeptical about putting them on the MPV but after reading the reports about them these tyres are highly rated in most of the tests. The set of tyres cost around £135 fitted.

Well I've just had a set of Hankook's fitted to the front wheels - 130 all in. Initial impressions are very good - stable, quiet and very grippy. As I said in my initial post, mileage isn't what I was looking for - grip is what I was after.

Have heard lots about the Michelins being a tyre for longevity...

T260/130 glx

Came fitted with Hankooks all round, fronts changed at 35000, rears on 55000 still massive tread.Put Firestone on the front and now the esp intervenes about 10mph lower around motorway sweepers , don't rate them for grip wet or dry. Gonna have the Hankooks on the front to see if any different.

Since november mine is running on wintertires : Goodyear ultra grip (made in Luxemburg ) and they give imho ultra grip, in a few weeks i will put the hankooks on again.

I have continental vanco on my Trafic.
The front has just had its third set fitted at 95K.
I got 45k out of the first lot and changed the second at 40 but to be honest they did not need it but it was my year end and I had the cash to spend before the tax man took it off me.
He back is on its second set.
The first set was changed at 60k ish and that was only because I have bent the axle and it is cheeper to replace the scrubbing off tires than getting it repaired.

To resurrect and old thread, because i needed tyres for my MOT..

My van has Agilis all round. They look like an off road tyre! But i have never managed to get 20k from a pair of boots on a FWD vehicle before. My van is remapped and gets driven enthusiastically but there wear on the fronts was even all the way across with only minimal scrubbing. They were on the van when i got them and i suspect they may have done a few k's beforehand but driven more gently!

My spare was a brand new Agilis so thats on the front now, and i have just got off ebay another brand new one to go with it. I hope to get 25-30k out of them this time, which will be a years worth of driving.

Next time round i may go for Hancook, as my local Ford dealer fits them and quite a few new cars have them fitted too. For £45 each they are worth a try. Cheapest i found the Agilis was £74 each on mytyres.net. My ebay one was £70.

I use hankooks, had semperits when van was new did not last well at all. hankooks were good value from camskill.co.uk i think it was.

I have just put a set of Hankooks on my 140.

The Pirrelli's that it came out of the factory with still had 3/4 mm of tread on them after 55k , but the rubber between the tread blocks had perished. The cracks were beyond belief to be honest. I only noticed how bad they were when i had a puncture and the guy took the tyre off the wheel to repair it and it looked like a stanley knife had been cutting them . They were only 18 mnths old by the date stamp on them and looked good on the sidewalls etc.

Better safe than sorry ...........................
