help! non runner.

Postby badboy1 » Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:46 pm

hi all, just bought a 2000 2.4 turbo, story so far, ran out of diesel about a year ago and left stood for about 6 months then the guy tried to get it running put in half a tank of fuel but no joy,so got someone to have a look, they replaced something possibly a pump, not to sure, then it would fire but not start. we got it back to the workshop today and now have diesel at the injectors and it is trying to start but just wont quite get there. any advice greatfully recieved, realy would like to get this running.
thanks. :D

are you getting enough diesel to injectors and was the pump programmed when fitted?
does sound like if its trying to start that it could be just air in the system, try a touch of cold start in the intake to see if it runs on that and try to pump the fuel through.
i replaced a fuel filter a while ago and couldnt get it to run no matter what i tried in the end i dragged it down the road to pull the fuel through  :!:
hope you get it going mate

thanks for that, spoke to someone last night and he said its probably damaged the pump and that it would be about £1000 for the part and a pain to fix, could he be right cos i dont realy want to spend that much on it.

Take the filter off again, fill it with clean diesel and try again

If someone replaced the pump from the original and it hasnt been to ford to have the pump coded to the van thats probably your problem
