give 'em a good knock with a heavy copper mallet - they can be a bit difficult to remove on these so bear with it

Nighthawk did a post about this, look for it if you do try to just beat the drum off with a lump hammer you could do what i did i smashed the drum off alright but it brought the shoes with it damaging the shoe retainors and even totally tore the piston out of the side of the wheel cylinder, my advice,find the post

Theres a hole in the backplate, if you use a torch you can see the adjuster, give it a flick and the shoes will drop back and the drum will come off quite easily after that.

Or even easier as Nighthawk posted and knock a stud out and you can even get to the adjuster!

thats right Mike because if i remember the hole in the backplate was manufactured in the wrong place so getting to the adjuster wasnt easy,knock the stud in and you can shine a torch in to see the adjuster,when refitting the drum,use a bit of copper slip around the area where the drum and shaft contact as they seize

never had to do it yet but I did read that in the parts plus bumph ford send me

I don't think I've worked on a vehicle yet that had the hole for the adjuster in the right place.
