Hi All ,I have Just bought a 2003 SWB Ex BT Low Roof Transit 85/300 :D and I am after the 2 Alluminium Rails (think they have Black Rubber edge strips on them) that run from the Front to the Rear of the Load Area about Half Way Down and you use them to Strap your Load in any one know the Correct Name of them :? ,and where I might get them from :? ,thanks in advance Mark

Hi
I must admit I don't know the correct name for them, but I do know they are next to useless.
I think I have used mine twice, once for trying to prevent a case of marble from tipping and once (still) for holding my 2nd spare wheel. The problem is what to use with them ?

I found these , but they are only so-so, and you have to thread the strap through each time & they won't take 2" straps, any more than the rail will !.
I got a little black book with me poems in

I have the factory-fitted 'cargo stowage rail' in my van. You can see a picture in the Mk7 brochure:

http://www.ford.co.uk/cs/BlobServer?blo ... blobkey=id

I agree with Terry that it's not great. It won't take the 1/4" wire hooks of my 2" load straps and anyway you would pull it off the side of the van with a ratchet strap. However, it is better than nothing and if you are good with knots, you can use some 6mm blue polypropylene rope, or failing that, some 1" loop straps without the hooks.

If I was starting with a blank canvas (or an empty van) I'd probably fit something like this:

http://www.rollcontainers.co.uk/load_ba ... _range.htm

They will take a 1/4" wire hook (at least those I've encountered) and you can use the matching spring-loaded load bars if desired.

The van in front is a Transit. It might be my Mk7 - follow the trail of rusty water: Diary of an Ordinary Van

A breakers is probably your best bet, but it might be worth a look on ebay

You can use bungee cords or endless ratchet straps on the ford cargo rails
