sorry went off on a tangent there - yours is SWB the luton will be LWB so it's a different prop - take it back to him for the right one or get your money back and get one somewhere else

ok it's not twin wheel (my van or the van at the breakers)

and the van at the breakers DEFINATELY had a rear bumper.

just searched for transit luton on google images and it wasn't one of those.

This one looked more like a minibus, definately transit, definately SWB and definately had a rear bumper.

ok it's not the best and the exhaust gets in the way a little but this was the shaft on the van at the breakers.

there's a bit missing off the front end of that one - is that the one you bought?

that was the one i bought it had no gear box attached to it.

I took it back after the advise of the 'mechanic' but it's still there if required

The thing is if you buy a second hand prop the chances are you will need to get a new bearing at the very least, you may as well get yours recond for the money they are asking!

I had a similar problem finding a prop for my 91 diesel. It had a CV joint in the propshaft not a UJ, probably the same fitted to a diesel Scorpio/Sierra. You need only to really worry about the two flanges to gearbox and diff, the length of the propshaft. I fitted a later propshaft in my van by only having to weld to 40mm x 25mm x 5mm thick strips in to mount the centre bearing. Pretty easy really.
