pump tweak hmmm..

i just followed the pump tweak thread and have a slight problem, when you try to do the lock nut up using a normal ratchet you cant hold the centre allen bolt and therefore that also turns and mucks it right up!!!!

you need the new design draper ratchets / sockets that are hollow.

so now im in the situation of how far have i turned it ?and what are the base settings? , ie: how many turns is the standard pump set?

I don't think there are standard settings, they are set when the pump is built or on refurb pumps they will be set on a test bed.

You can lock it up and go for a drive and see if it goes better /smokes or not go so well

This should give you an idea as to which way to turn

i didnt have paint or tipex so i scribed a mark on it but that doesnt help as i tightened the lock nut and everything turned how many turns i dont know. as i couldnt see

Instead of using the ratchet to tighten up the lock nut, try putting the socket onto the locknut and using pikegrips or molegrips on the socket itself and tighten that way....this will leave the hole through the middle of the socket to put the allen wrench!!! least ways thats how I have managed in the past.

And probably will in the future in a similar circumstance.....

no, its only on the bosch pump

sorry its a mk3 and the pump looks exactly the same as the one in the photos posted elsewhere in this forum so maybe i am in luck?
