Mark Two Wiper blades

Postby jonm » Wed Jun 01, 2005 7:43 pm

Does anyone know where I can get a new set of mark 2 wiper blades? The wiper arms on my van are the "push on" sort, and the wiper blades themselves have a fitting which is not supplied with the wiper blades you can get from motor factors etc. It failed it's MOT on this, and I can't believe it's keeping me off the road!

Failing that, is there a conversion to a more modern type of arm?

I would just change the arms, so that you have more choice. All of ours (Mk2 phase2) have a hook on the end of the arm. We buy our wiper blades from the pound shop!!! Like Tescos say, every little helps. The arms should be a straight swap. Midnightclassix Tony is breaking a Mk2 phase2 at the mo, PM him and see if the wiper arms are still there.

You're welcome, can't see a Mk2 off the road now can we, specially for something stupid like wiper blades! I think the blades would be easier to get for the type of arm with a hook. Like I said try the pound shop. Make sure you get the 16 or 20 inch ones though, the regular one are too little.

yes, the guy I bought it from has a pile of brand new, correctly sized blades in the cab - just no fitting.

I even tried fiddling around with the "cut to size" replacement kits- but they just fell out of the arms.

Still, end in sight.

....That's why I said change the arms. One pair of wipers won't last forever, which is why it would be better to have the choice. If nothing else, jonm can keep the old arms to keep his options open. Like he said, he can't find the wiper blades for his arms now, what will happen in a few years? Scarp the van cos he can't get the wipers?

Why hunt round scrap yards and get second hand (if you get lucky) when you can buy new? Change the arms and you can get generic ones. Easy

Mark you should be fussy, but in the end I am happy to fit anything that works, keeps you on the raod and doesn't look drastically different. I am funny about wheels. I hate to have Mk3 wheels on a Mk2!
