what is the best courier van please nearly new

Hire/Lease Co's have cottoned on to the high mileage renter due to the low residule values of there assets after a Year or 2. They are even recalling vehicles from long term rentals because of this.

Buy new over 4 Years Extend warranty to 4 years unlimited Mileage. No unexpected repair bills just servicing tyres etc which will work out less than Hire/leasing. Then Px against a New one and start again.

All Tax Deductable and drepreciated year on year

Only saying this for milage warranty
i will get slated for saying this i would maybe consider 311cdi sprinter unlimited milage warranty plus the were giving you 5 years free servicing.But personally i would go for a 200ps 30k miles or 2 years servicing plus better on fuel consumption than a 140ps.

Thats interesting my 140 over the last 15 Tanks has averaged 30 mpg by the Computer.

Whats the 200 do ?

Roughly about 28 on the computer van weighs 3700-3800 kg constant and has a roof rack etc on it.and do a lot of various driving on A,B roads etc

plus its remapped upto 231ps

my 135 was lighter and get about 30-40miles better per tank and that was not remapped

transit forum i no....new sprinters are crap on mpg evrey one moans about them.mecedes no about prob and have rectified this for the 2010 model,,extended warranty wont be any use to this chap as he has to have a fairly new van,if your only doin local multidroping buying your own van could be the way to go.its all about milage,but there is a reason why most courier companies, parcel delivery companies,national companies,be it vans or hgv lease there vechiles, its milage and repair bills,just a useless point did you no if you lease a van thru a local small company, its probaly been leased thru 3 companies before them,so what price the one at the top of the tree paying for there vans,half what we pay

Ive got a euro5 Sprinter 313 & ive been getting 450 till the fuel light comes on. The problem with them is they have got the same gearing as the Transit (3500rpm=100mph) but the engine has not got the guts to pull it, not so bad empty but show it a hill when loaded & your down 2 gears. Its 300kgs heavier than our 140 jumbo.

Got a merc car over rated & sh1t on diesel so a Sprinter is a no go as it sounds like a heavy drinker

If I lease I can claim back from tax /vat man same as if I buy, miles a day will not be sky high as all local work most 130mls a day no down time its the" theirs a scratch here dint their you have to pay for that in our work shop at our price" I am worried about and there mileage allowance 130 mls a day x 5 day week x 48 weeks =31200mls a year
31200mls divided by 26mpg (safe estimate of MPG) =1200 gallon of diesel a year x 4.54(liters per gallon) =5448lts x £1.12 a liter(today's cost) = £6101.76 a yr
4 yr payments with extra warranty cover worth considering

Have you ever done courier work before?? I am doing agency work for city link and home delivery network.and both use self employed couiers to do the crappy deliverys none else wants to do and they pay from 60p per parcel to £1.40 depending on timed delivery and size....A few of the self employed drivers have 2000 to 2004 lwb transits but with private plates on them to hide the age plates.

If you register for vat you get it back as you must pay the full amout of VAT as the deposit, all drivers sould register for VAT as you will claim more back than you give the goverment

Thats right apart from you normally pay a Deposit and then all the VAT.

I know a mate of mine whos a mechanic also and he does alot of work for a local private commercial dealer who sold a good few movanos and vivaros, he,s getting a good few of back in for a range of stuff like fuel pumps, turbo,s and gearboxes and most of them have,nt much over 40,000 miles on them. At work we have 6 transits and about 10 different drivers (some of them bought their licence i think)and to tell you the truth they are bullet proof (or maybe just lucky). I service them like clockwork and they never give me any trouble except for the normal wear and tear stuff, some of them have near 200,000 on them. To be fair i know a couple of local lads who have vivaro,s and are owner drivers which make a big difference. i dont think the vauxhalls are good multi driver vans like most makes including ford

another option, that i would consider for a courier van and doing high miles, because of the zero resale value, buy a cheap cat B or C salvage van, if you know a body work expert even better, but a lot of salvage vehicles have very little damage but are cheaper than forcourt, just an idea.

i have just bought a 2008 damaged transit it cost me £4500 and £600 to repair it it has only done 28k runs like a dreem and you would never tell it was damaged
