i bolted mine through the bumper but a bit of advice if you do put a piece of metal behind the bumper as mine shake when on a bumpy road

I brought a length of aluminium bar, bent to shape and bolted it to the underside of the slam panel, then down to the front cross-member... I took the bolt out of the spot lamp and fitted it to the Ali and passed that through the grille. Bolted the lamps on. If you need a bit more reach, then a longer bolt with a length of tube slid over the top :D

I already had the wiring for the halos from the bumper lamps, so the halo where just tapped in, but Ive disconnected them since. The spots are to a 30A relay, must be a wiring diagram on here somewhere.

Mine has a roof rack. (wiring isn't a problem to feed up the inside of either side of the windscreen). I chose the roof because it gives a much better angle ... in fact from a couple of inexpensive lamps they light the road like daylight for way, way beyond the headlight full beam range, maybe 2/3 times further. Another reason I chose this position was ease of mounting and stability. At first I just riveted the back of the lamps to the roof rack, and this was perfectly acceptable on all but the worst roads... but, because in Britain you don't pay nearly enough road tax  you have bad roads all over the place as soon as you leave main routes. So... I bought a couple of simple metal brackets, bent them to the required angle and riveted them to the back of the lamp, and the roof of the van, forming a triangle. Do use rubber washers and a bit of sealant where you have drilled into the roof, and all will be fine. Mine have been on 3 years and no leaks at all.

ps rivets don't work loose with vibration.

I always thought roof mounted lamps cannot legally be operated from inside the vehicle... I remember one of my mates having to fit switched lamps to the outside on his hilux, or am I talking tosh :?:
