Low emission zone?

Postby APH » Fri Jan 29, 2010 7:27 pm

Hi, I was talking to a friend this morning that said he couldnt take his MK6 X (2000) reg transit into london as of february, This seemed odd as I thought all the MK6 vans were extremely low on emmissions (something like Euro 3 compliant) already. Checked my 03 2.4 90ps and thats supposedly fine, can anyone shed any more light on this?

Don't know for sure yet if its FWD or RWD 2.4 / 2.5. I know its TDDi Duratorq. Will find out exact model tomorrow. Think its RWD as seem to remember seeing a diff on it years ago (i used to work for him and had that van for a while!) did they make the 2.5 in RWD?

Regards,
Andy.

Being a pre-2002 van, it's automatically excluded from the list of compliant vehicles, but as it is the same engine as the later vans, you can get a letter of compliance from Ford

lol, I agree with you there :x ,
I know weve all got to do our bit to help with the environment, and i'm the first to walk to a job with my toolbox on my shoulder if its only 5 mins away, but, in the grand scheme of things, is charging people to drive into a big city realy going to help :?: industries still need to transport their goods, shops still need deliverys, so even by reducing the emissions we still havent really solved anything just slowed it down slightly. If he government had their way we'd all be on bikes :!: Now I can just see me (Electrician) carrying 4 meter lengths of trunking and rolls of cable on a bike, or grocerys being delivered to supermarkets on the train!! Yes ok, ban vheicals as we currently know them, but first make sure a SUITABLE replacement is available, that dosent cost the Earth (excuse the punn)..........grrrr..

Sorry to go on, but just had to get it off my chest  lol :D
