Timing Vibration.

Postby birdy » Sat Feb 20, 2010 11:10 pm

Mechanic had van today and replaced radiator,i mentioned something vibrating probably within passenger door and asked him to sort it .He tells me he think there is a vibration coming from Engine - He replaced timing belt and tensioner (Ford Parts) about a couple of months ago he thinks the vibration could be to do with new automatic type tensioner and thinks he may change it for older type tensioner .Any views it sounds ludicous to me that a tensioner could cause a vibration problem i thought its either tensioned or its not .Odd thing is my mechanic is pretty good and normally gets things right .?????????????

I dont think vibes would come from the cam belt etc, more likely to be something to do with the drive train, ie , prop shaft

Its not prop ,vibes can occur when parked in neutral .You can press throttle slightly and bring on the vibes and just lately engine has a slightly different sound .Strange .

Had most items replaced with ongoing maintenance including water pump ,would not be the first time though that a new replacement part has caused problems .Can get annoying when niggling problems arise because i have van maintained constantly no expense spared .Had a problem with wheelchair lift recently alone costing £1000.And the list of items replaced is lengthy using Ford parts when financially viable - water pump was not ford part so i am prepared for that to be a problem ,slight alignment fault maybe ?.
