clutch pedal height

Postby anddyy » Mon Feb 22, 2010 12:16 am

hi
just bought a 96 swb smiley van

problem ive got it the clutch pedal is very high, several inches higher than the other pedals, which means you have to lift your leg up to get your foot on the pedal :(

ive had a play with the nut on the pedal hoping this might lower the pedal a bit, but all it does is lower or higher the biting point
is there a way to adjust the height of the pedal?
the clutch bite good and doesnt slip so im not sure what to do :?

anyone got any ideas

thanks
andy

Probably means the clutch cable has been adjusted to the max due to stretching. I'd be changing the clutch cable personally.

I had the same problem several years back now.

I kept ajusting the cable and one day just going up a big hill and bang :!:

And i thought O sh*t   :!: :!:

looked under the van and i had managed to snap the clutch release folk :!:

got towed into the local garage who managed to weld arm back together without

droping gearbox as a teporary repair and changed the cable and it sorted the problem

about a year later as had a lot of long driving to do i had a new clutch arm and as clutch

had started to slip changed that aswell.

Hope thats not to much rambling on.

yes clutch arms are easy to get at.

if its the same as mine on the side of the gear box near the bottom you should

be able to see the arm pocking out with the cable leading from it.

the hardest bit i found changing the cable was fitting the rubber bung back behind the peddal.

hope that help :D :D
