Help with Mk 1 Carb, Please.

Postby erdebear » Fri Jun 10, 2005 5:36 pm

I have been contacted by a friend in Germany, who has an early transit with the first OHC engine, it has running problems, and the Carb is suspected as the problem, probably a faulty auto-choke. Can anyone help with a link to a supplier, or anyone who has a Carb for this model. It is a Ford Carb. No: 77HFKCA60B. the tag on the carb has the no: 6E28JA/AA117.Thank you. :)

Is this a Mk1 with a 2L OHC engine? Was it fitted (much) later, as I though that V4s were only fitted as standard, 1.6 and 2L

Welcome, by the way, why not get your mate to jion up as well? We have other German members already.

As far as I know its a MK1, Guess it could be an early MKII, its a while since I saw it, but its a 1954cc OHC with the Ford Carb, the Weber replacement is the 34IC, so? any ideas?

1954cc :? a V4(mk1) should be 1996cc and a pinto(mk2) 1993cc

You say it has a problem with the auto choke - what about converting it to a manual choke? You can still get the conversion kits in my local motorfactors!
Sorry i cant be of more help, but give it a few days one of our anorak/technical  members should be able to help you!!! :D
Welcome by the way!! :D

I always remembered it being a V4 (only seen it once!) and when i spoke with him this week, he insisted it was an OHC, but I dont think he knows much about mechanics, so I think he needs a carb for a V4 1954cc, it is a camper version with pop-up roof and side door. 77HFKCA60B.i lay awake last night convinced it was a v4!
