Urgent help - what engine have I got ?

Postby phildow » Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:20 pm

Hi I need some urgent help. I have an L reg Minibus but it has had a different engine put in. When I had problems with the thermostat I ordered a new one quoting the registration number, I thought it was strange that the gasket was the wrong size and the thermostat was a tight fit. I think it is the wrong thermostat. The one i need fits into a housing which you need awrench too remove. Anyone have any ideas what the engine model is, how I can find out (is there a number anywhere on the engine ????

2nd problem is that the engine is running hot, not overheating (maybe because of the thermostat problem) but the I noticed the fan is not working. How can I test it and fix it ?? :|

Post a pic or 2 of your engine, someone on here will identify it..

all diesels engines of 2500cc have the engine number on the ledge just above the sump on nearside front corner...sounds like you have a banana type engine fitted(does it have silver inlet manifold that goes over the engine??

So we're assuming it's diesel then?

If so, all N/A Di stats are the same. Turbo Di stats are all the same.
