heater blower fan low on power?

Postby v8turbo » Fri Apr 16, 2010 12:10 am

Hi,
Problem with the heater/blower on mk5 1998 tourneo, the fan works and can be heard but has little output from the dash vents? When I change the speed from 1 up to 3 I can hear the fan changing speed and output, but still has poor performance out the vents? Thanks Rob

Sounds like the flaps in the pipework aren't moving properly when you select the direction with the control, or they are jammed. Not sure what is involved in fixing it on the Transit, but if i recall the ones in my old Mondeo were a bit awkward to get at.

Could also be that one of the plastic ducts has come off and the air is being lost behind the dash.

I have checked the pipes and they are all on ok? also I checked the cable moves when I turn the nob to change direction? every thing seems to check out ok but it just has no real power of air out the ducts? really baffled on this! looks like I will have to take it all out to strip it down, and I did not want to mess with the air con pipes!
