clutch problem mk5

all done and tested, very happy. Just need to get some oil in the morning and top it up before driving it properly. The clutch just bites very high now so does this just need adjusting. Is it the nut on the pedal needs loosening ? Apart from that all good and thank you all for your knowledge.

thanks mate, not much to them really is there apart from being bulky and awkward. A pit would of been very handy rather than a jack just big enough to get the box under. I was told in the shop that it should take 2.5 litres of oil so ive put 2 in presuming there would of been some left in. Sounds and feels good, thanks.

thanks all, just one more thing, Ive come to put the speedo back on and there is a plug in the hole for it on the new gearbox which is proving hard to remove. Do I just need to force this out and everything will be behind to accept the speedo ? Can I expect oil to come from this plug ?

I assume you mean the thrust bearing (the bearing that slides up and down the shaft thats actuated by the arm? They are only pushed against the arm and not firmly located in any way

The thrust bearing should clip onto the release arm, it shouldn't be loose on the shaft to move of it's own accord.
