ford transit failing to start while warm

Postby paulhogan » Mon Apr 19, 2010 9:55 pm

I have a 2005 Short Wheel Base Ford Transit 85 T260.
My Transit will start from cold no problem. If i drive for maybe 6 miles stop.Get out come back a few minutes later to the van and it will not start.
It will turn over start then cut out straight away. after 5 or 6 attemps it will start, this might not happen again for a day or it could happen 3 or 4
times in the same day.I've opened an injector a couple of times and it fired up straight away.Is it a diesel problem or an electric problem.
Any body out there encounter the same problem.

What does the temp gauge do?
I would say crank sensor or coolant temp sensor, you can unplug the temp sensor just to see if it starts back up but you will get the flashing glow plug light on the dash
