egr removal on 2.5 td di

Postby MONSTER 0NE » Tue Apr 20, 2010 7:00 pm

Hi guys
As some of you may know im fitting the 100ps td engine out of my old van which had all the epic egr stuff, my question is can I get away with removing all of the egr stuff as im using the bosch pump manual pump ? eg the egr valve itself and the other butterfly body and connect the pipe for the intercooler straight to the turbo, as it will make my life plumbing up the intercooler a lot easier and hopefully gain a few extra bhp. Hopefully that makes sense, I can take some pics of the bit im on about if it helps.
Cheers Andrew

As AKE said and any bits (like the butterfly body) you don't want/need should be binned into the back of my van

It may have escaped your attention, but mine is an EPIC, as it left the factory :!: That throttle body butterfly pivot can wear and cause problems, so could have one rebushed and ready to swap out

So you still use the EGR then Andy, how come when everyone else removes or blocks theirs off? :?

I fitted a lovely brand new one (for the first and only time) and now my engine warning lamp goes out immediately, like it should :D

If I was to remove it from the circuit, the ECU would log a fault and not only will the engine lamp take 5 seconds to go out (to indicate a fault), but apparently will stop you from carrying out functions like "leakback" trim etc...

Well I better find a nice piece of steel to block of the egr valve mount on the exhaust manifold then, and start working how to run the intercooler pipes I need to run, mind you need to find a decent large intercooler first  .

Andy you should know that I give you 1st dibs on any epic bits I have, I will keep hold of them till we meet at a show.
