WEEKEND MAKEOVER

Postby ripbuster » Wed Jul 07, 2010 10:28 am

Having read all about the projects and conversions some of you have done on your van's,and seeing how artistic/gifted some of you are and "YOU ARE"
How about someone/the forum aquiring a sorry looking but solid underneath transit with tax and mot.Plan out a conversion/customisation then aquire the parts needed whether donated or purchased and then at one of the weekend meets you all set to work on the van in the style of 60 minute makeover only you will have the weekend to change the van.Now i understand this would take some planning but i think it would attract a huge amount of interest.
If possible you could do some money raising for it with a collection say a voluntary £1 per answered question/problem that helped the forum member.
You could then decide what to do with the van.Which im sure would attract suggestions :?:

Any mocking/Mickey taking of this idea Greatly Appreciated

i've thought of this sort of thing before but like you say it'd take some organising :!:

if you look at the skills people have on the forum together we could build an awesome van 8)

something like a long weekend restoration mabe see if we could get a TV company interested

i'd donate my old mk4 we could customise it (i say customise because that what i'm into) big V8 engine body kit, interior wide wheels paint job etc etc. then auction it off for charity :D

but if it was ever to happen it would take a lot of planning :!: :!:

we could build it before the event - show it there :!: and raffle it off at the show

i once went to the RS show on the way in there was a cossy saff mint and worth about £5k at the time he was raffling it off £1 a ticket on the way out i asked how many tickets he'd sold ............ over ten thousand   but that was the RS national show we might struggle to get that many

i'd definatly be up for it - and we can have my mk4 donated free - i think the planning would need to be done way before and things like getting parts collected in advance! we could use the voting section on here to decide on how its built and the spec - colour engine etc - we could even set up a new section just for the project

if it was to ever get off the ground...... 1st off a place to build it :!: and volenteers to help :!: realistically it'd be a long weekend mabe thursday - monday/tuesday as you always run into snags, even people who dont consider themselves 'experts' could get involved things like sanding the bodywork down getting it to a standard where the expert could take over and finish it could be done by anyone :D

what about actualy doing the build at transitmania ?

get a couple of large gazeebos and generators, it was done at the landie show a few year back with a scrapper they totaly rebuilt it and painted it on site, think it would be a real winner for the site and could be a big draw if your going to do dvd`s of transitmania :D

tbh i think it would be too much - it's a lot of work running the show without a transit to built aswell :D
