restricted ?

Postby seadog » Sat Jul 10, 2010 12:55 am

hi
im new to the forum,
i was looking for the answer to my question on the internet when i came across the forum,
I have a. a 55 plate ,short wheel, standard height
100 300,
im the 2nd owner,
my problem is,,
that it has no acceleration at all compared to my mates 100 280.
could it be that the gearbox is a differant ratio
or the engine is restricted ?????????

When did it last get a proper service with all filters? Have you blanked the egr? Is it carrying more weight than your mates? Is one of your brakes sticking on?

Mine was too, found out it was the timing chain on fuel pump slightly out and it had gone into limp mode, just feels like no turbo and very sluggish!

cant see that, if fuel pumps out either way slightly it just gives a lot of diesel knock, aswell as less power.

Would have thought the electronic pump control compensated for small variations? or does it have a limit to how far it can cope in which case we'd expect to see a management light on?

Either way an electronic hook up would be a good place to start along with a good quality cleaning additive, I allways distrust wonder potions but I've "fixed" 2 dodgy runners with cleaning addives recently - and a darn sight cheaper than a pump!

Oh and don't use shitty supermarket diesel! :?
