elby on the rise

Postby gravelrash2004 » Tue May 18, 2010 10:44 pm

Hello All
Finally got round to posting on this forum.

My Transit is a White Mk5 150 Specoal with LPG conversion - so no need for a photo at this stage :) Currently its in the hands of my repair/painter and is having the tinworm eradicated and a lick of paint... I hopefully i get it back on Satursay all hole free and shiny. I am having the back passenger side door smoothed at the bottom and will flush fit a motorcycle style registration plate front and rear. new rear bumper and all wheel arches and both doglegs replaced.

The work i have done so far is as follows
Replaced all front suspension : springs / struts / mounts. ball joints and it now sits at the height it should. I have fitted some tinted door wind deflectors and sorted some elecrric problems. Done a bit of sound deadening using B&Q's finest (more to do)

Immediate Planned work
Going to fit reversing sensors and maybe a camera setup. and fit a tow ball

Longer term plan
Fully sound dampen the beast and conver into a day van so i can take my scooters to rallys and have nice days out etc.

Will keep you posted on the progress and any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Oh and one last thing before i go.... my sprayer didnt want to paint it white again as he is a secret customiser, so i have given him free reign to paint it how he sees fit.... kind of regretting saying that now as I dont know if he is winding me up but he has mentioned a few ideas and one of them was to paint it blue with skulls downthe side....

Things are taking longer at the paintshop than either i or the sprayer anticipated... we were chatting a while back about the van and a couple of things he saud in the course of the conversation after i had asked him to cut out all the rust and replace with good metal.

he has "worked on transits before" and its "surprised so much rot beneath the paint"
"how much van do you want left" (after he cuts the rot out)
"its an interesting project this, the plasma cutter is coming into its own"

Fair play to the man, he has quoted me a fair price when he took the job on and he isnt looking to massively hike the price up now he has found all this extra work. Oh and i have heard his latest idea for paint (which may change when he actually sprays it) he is looking to spray it metallic blue and silver.

He has taken lots of photo's of the work he has done to far and will be giving me the photos when he has finished. fingers crossed its the weekend of the 12th June

Has it been for an MOT since you moved the number plate?
