VOTE HERE - 6 wheeler?? good idea or not??

Postby Luke » Wed Sep 22, 2010 3:31 pm

right we need to start getting some ideas together - just to gauge opinion what does everyone think about this as an idea :?:

this vote poll doesnt mean were gonna do it this way but it'll give us an idea to see if it's popular or not

this is AlanN's quick photoshop

obviously the colour/wheels and rust would be different - it's just to give an idea of the outine

should we build a 6 wheeler - simple YES or NO

also comments on the concept welcome here :D

i'll repost what i said in the other thread, obviously goes without saying i like the idea
i dont think we are overstretching ourselves either, 90% of the van would be standard and easy to work to (with so many people it'd be easier to all know what we are doing) it'd look amazing when done and be so different 8)
i think doing it exactly like alans drawn would be the best way the front back axle would be in the standard position - therefore not putting much extra stress on the chassis, the back one would just sit there have brakes and suspention but no drive :D
for a bit of inspiration watch this  8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnVLEYCmtnE

i think so  1 advantage is as most of the 'modding' work would be going on at the back we wouldnt be tripping over those working fitting the engine at the front  :D

The only thing is that if we go six wheeler, we'll need gull wing doors just because we would

  now you are pushing it

the thing i love about this idea - is i think it'd be one of the coolest transits around but i'd never in my lifetime own or build a 3 axle transit, this would give me the chance to get involed in building one :!:

i also think it'd sell well at the end of it all -ideal for somone who wants a weekend van for weekends away going to the shows camping etc. it'd be spot on 8) 8)

It's a massive yes from me!
Ticks all the boxes-
1 Doable - axle module can be worked on as a seprate part
2 Will give the van Wow factor
3 No major mechanical or electrical integration needed
etc etc.

Has anyone considered trying to open gull wing doors in a carpark? Unless there is a clever way to hinge them in the middle it would need 3 spaces to park!
