return it to "showroom as new"

rebuilt mechanicals, jack it up, rip the mechanicals out >>>>>>>>>>>>> workshop

lift body onto trolley >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> bodyshop

havent you ever seen Chip Foose "overhaulin"?

then a few subtle touches (very few, very subtle)

I like that idea

As new means lots of new parts, bushes etc. Can we get these FOC?

It could be a good promo for a Ford dealer or even the factory, returning a high mileage swb transit that has been "the backbone of britain" can see any huge list of expensive bits if the engine and box are useable, mainly bushes, water pump, clutch, etc to give the old girl another 20 years use? a ford dealer could also be happy to shift obsolete parts they may have no other use for!

"Sponsored by Ford"................

its never gonna be a working van again is it (id hope not) so its more a "nostalgia" restoration,

Has anything been donated yet? It has to have the sound of a V8 - cant have a custom van clattering along with a Di under the bonnet!

i would advocate NOT changing from the standard engine, but if it was to be then it would have to be a FORD 3ltr V6 - should fit ok too......

yes transitgeoff has a rover V8 we can have it's got an auto box too, the only downside is it's an unknown quantity so might need checking over 1st  also i think some ancileries are missing :|

the good thing about a Rover V8 is
1. we know it will fit in an un modded transit mk4 engine bay :D and
2. well it's a V8 innit

I have most of a Rover V8 if it needs internals Think crank, shells, rods etc are ok. I got it in bits and never got around to putting it together!
Also got some MOD spec electronic ignition booster packs
