battery and tray

Postby solarman » Fri Oct 01, 2010 1:11 am

A couple of questions,i need a new battery to replace my starter battery for a 2.5 non turbo, what size in amps or CCA?
Also i intend to back up the new battery with the older battery wired in parallel for starting use only,so i will need a battery tray fitted on the opposite side, what is the best way to fit one and where can i get a battery tray from?

You need the battery tray from a petrol van as this goes on the left side inner wing. Try breakers or e-bay.

The starter battery will be an 096 if its got round terminals.

Ideally you should be looking at a CCA of 650A or more

mine has round terminals but has CCA of 550 marked on the battery.I suppose a larger CCA would be better anyway so i will
get the next size up.Any ideas on a battery tray, fabrication or salvaged and how to fix in place would be appreciacted thanks,

You've got the wrong battery then.

550 cca is a bit small for a Di, the 650 is the correct size, or you can now get a 750 which is the same physical size as the 650. I've just fitted one of those 750's in to mine ready for the winter 8)

The petrol van battery tray simply bolts in to the other side, using threaded holes which are already there :D
